Introduction

This document shows the movements of Civil Register entries on changes in nationality (acquisition of Spanish nationality, preservation and loss), related to the profiles of the persons making entries. Offering a perspective of the evolution of the events and acts of the Civil Register and of the persons who access it.

The results shown correspond to the electronic registrations recorded in individual registers with the DICIREG system according to the registry model of the Civil Registry Law 20/2011. This registry model is being progressively implemented in all the Judicial Districts of Spain and Consular Offices until the end of 2025.

Methodology

1.Thematic:
Civil Registers.

2.Indicators:
- Birth registrations: birth entries in individual registers of the Civil Registry for the indicated period.
- Death registrations: death entries in individual registers of the Civil Registry for the indicated period.
- Registrations of acquisition of Spanish nationality: annotations of acquisition of Spanish nationality in the individual registers of the Civil Registry for the indicated period.
- Date: the date of registration of the entry is taken as the reference date.

3.Geographical scope:
The information covers the whole of the national territory.Data is published on a national level, by Autonomous Community, province and municipality.

4.Application bodies:
Civil Registers.

5.Temporal coverage:
Information on a daily basis, with data available from 27/09/2021.

6.Updating of data:
Data are updated on a daily basis.

7.Standardisation processes:
The geographical data is standardised in accordance with the Technical Regulations of the CTEAJE (reference standard for IT tools in the field of the Administration of Justice).

8.Adjustment:
No seasonal adjustment, decomposition of time series or similar methods are carried out.

9.Source:
The source of this data is the computer system (Dicireg) in which registrations are recorded in accordance with the model established by Law 20/2011. Over the coming years, all Civil Registry Offices will progressively adopt this system until entries under the Civil Registry Law of 1957 are completely discontinued.
