Central Registry of Convicts and Rebels

Introduction

Analysis and comparison of the cases and number of convicted persons registered in the System of Administrative Records to Support the Administration of Justice (SIRAJ). Information is shown from the Central Register of Convicted Persons and Rebels, where final decisions for the commission of a crime or misdemeanour imposing penalties or security measures, issued by the Courts or Tribunals of the criminal jurisdictional order, are registered.

The data of cases in which there is a penalty for a crimeare recorded in this register. It is not compulsory to record misdemeanours.

Methodology

1.Thematic:
Sectoral information.

2.Indicators:
- Convicted sentences: number of sentences registered (with final judgement) in the Central Register of Convicted Offenders and Rebels in a given period.
- Convicted persons: number of convicted offenders (withfinal judgement) registered in the Central Register of Convicted Offenders in a given period.
Note: the numbers of 'convictions' and 'convicted persons'may differ. The same person may be convicted in more than one case. And one conviction may convict more than one person.

3.Geographical scope:
The information covers the whole of the national territory. Data is published on a national level, by Autonomous Community.

4.Application bodies:
Central Register of Convicted Persons and Rebels.

5.Temporal coverage:
Information on a monthly basis, with data available since January 2018.

6.Updating of data:
The data is updated on a monthly basis.

7.Normalisation processes:
The geographical data is standardised in accordance with the Technical Regulations of the CTEAJE (reference standard for IT tools in the field of the Administration of Justice).

8.Adjustment:
No seasonal adjustment, time series decomposition or similar methods are performed.

9.Source:
The data is obtained from the System of Administrative Records to Support the Administration of Justice (SIRAJ).
